Education
With around 20-30 years left to get ready for an environment with less oil access and feeling the effects of Climate Change, we need to educate our children in ways to transition to a lower energy lifestyle.
Transition Newcastle would like to consider ways to improve our education system, and how to get there.
Groups or individuals may wish to add a comment (Just register first) about how we can achieve a better education system eg. teaching children how to grow their own food, recycle water and generate renewable electricity; get involved with your local school maybe through the parent and teacher's group to help reduce their energy use; encourage market days at the school to sell organic produce; stimulate thinking on the issues of unbound economic growth, and how we can maintain have full employment whilst having time for our friends, family and community.
Please supply some details of what you would like to see and how it would work in your community or in broader areas.

It has been a fantastic couple of weeks to start the Spring Permaculture Design Course at Purple Pear Organics. A group of five participants have launched themselves enthuastically at the task of learning the practical parts of the concept. The hands-on format allows for participants to not only "learn" but "do" permaculture.
Enrollments in the next years PDC have started comming in and we are encouraged that it is the time when we at last move to a sustainable and resiliant future.
