The idea of a TTN led Newcastle Bike Festival to be held during N.S.W.’s bike week, 18th to 25th of September 2010, was to focus on getting your average citizen to get their bikes out of the shed and get onto that saddle! We have decided not to pursue this worthy event at this stage.
However we do encourage all readers to get on your bikes throughout the week of NSW bike-week, make a rolling statement and reclaim the roads - with a priority of cyclist safety.
The Newcastle cycleways movement is working hard to get Copenhagen or Dutch style dedicated and safe bike lanes running all the way into the city – e.g. from Energy Australia Stadium into town, and we congratulate them on their efforts so far on the East-West link.
