Welcome to Transition Newcastle. We're dedicated to creating a sustainable and resilient Newcastle, with the added bonus of making it an even nicer place to live and building community. Transition Newcastle is made up of passionate people volunteering their time and energy. We invite participation from all in our communities. In fact, for this to work, we need YOU!
Transition, sustainability and resilience...Transition Newcastle is based on The Transition Town model, which is a global, grassroots phenomenon driven by the twin challenges of Climate Change and Peak Oil. Instead of focusing on what we don't want, the key to the Transition Town model is the focus of creating positive visions and projects to create a truly sustainable and resilient society - where a sustainable society is defined as one which satisfies the needs of the present generation without compromising the capacity of future generations to meet their needs, and a resilient society is one able to continue to function and develop in the face of challenges or shocks to the systems it relies on. How can I get involved?!The easiest way to get involved is to come along to one of our Open Space meetings. At these you can bring along your own ideas or issues and help others with theirs. It's an excellent opportunity to create projects and link up with others to make them happen. Click here to find out when the next one is.
