Networks and alliances The Islington Village Community Group (IVCG) was formed in 2010 to advocate on local issues and engage the Islington community in positive initiatives to celebrate our suburb.
Actions IVCG members are involved with include:
* Consulting the local community on the development of a Newcastle Council master plan for Islington Park, focused on: the playground, arts and creative expression, the environment, and community events;
* Connecting people through local community events, like the recent Only in Islington photo project and Throsby Long Brunch; and
* Working collaboratively with community groups in Tighes Hill, Maryville, Wickham, Carrington, and Mayfield to get a better deal for residents living near the world’s largest coal port.
